Charlton fans were left disappointed after they watched their team lose against Huddersfield in the Championship this week. It was the team’s fourth loss in a row and ninth game without a win (WhoScored.com). Naturally, supporters are beginning to question the team’s ability.
After the match, manager Lee Bowyer claimed that his team gave everything they had during the match.
“My players are crawling off the pitch. They gave everything. We’ve scored a goal that was given offside and it wasn’t offside. I don’t know what to say,” said Bowyer in an interview after the match (Charlton).
But fans couldn’t see any truth to his statement. They insist that the players were crawling on the field from the first minute of the game.
Crawled off it? Most of them spent 90 minutes crawling around it

Absolutely did not. Crawling off of the pitch with embarrassment.

Sorry Bowyer we were dreadful. Yes had a disallowed goal and a decent spell for 10 minutes but for 80 minutes we were a disgrace.

Do you agree with Lee Bowyer's comments on the team's effort?
No
Yes
Others called out specific players, slating them for their lack of effort.
Leko gave everything

They gave everything & I can’t ask for more #brokenrecord We didn’t shoot, cross, have creativity, and defended like Stone Age. Fouls & punts. I get the issues, but give them a kick up backside! What did Purrington, Solly, Gallagher, Leko, & Pratley offer? Bonne isolated #cafc

What do we think?
There is clearly a disconnect between the manager and the fans. They are demanding an increased effort while Bowyer insists there is nothing left to give. One thing is for certain though – these results can’t continue, otherwise Charlton could be looking at making a swift return to League One.
