A lot of Newcastle United fans are unhappy with Lee Charnley’s latest quotes about the upcoming transfer window.
The Toon’s managing director has claimed that he does not “Want to promise and under deliver.”
This message has not gone down well with many Newcastle fans who are now preparing for their club to make no signings in January.
Lee Charnley on whether #NUFC will do any transfer business in January:
"We never say never. I don't want to over promise and under deliver. Steve himself has gone on the record and said he's happy with the group he's got." https://t.co/Yj2cj3aN0n

In others words we spent the transfer budget in handing out free season tickets ?
— William Rea (@wills2slim) December 11, 2019
What do we think?
Charnley very rarely says anything, but he felt that after announcing new free half-season tickets that he should do some interviews.
Charnley told the Chronicle that “Steve Bruce is happy with his current squad” and that “There is competition there in near enough all positions on the field.”
It seems then that Newcastle will not be buying anyone in January unless they deem it absolutely necessary.
This will no doubt annoy many Toon fans who are happy with how their team are doing but feel that they still need to be strengthened in certain areas.
Charnley mentions players like Matt Ritchie and Jamaal Lascelles as if they are new players, but they are both injured at the moment.
It is good to hear from Charnley, who has become quite a secretive figure on Tyneside, but what he said seems to have just annoyed many Newcastle supporters.
