Some Celtic fans are urging club boss Neil Lennon to help the side win the upcoming Old Firm Derby clash in the League Cup final on Sunday.

The former Bolton and Hibernian man has guided the Hoops to the Cup final this season, while Steven Gerrard has done the same for the Gers this season. While Lennon’s men now have a two-point lead at the top of the Premiership, Rangers’ draw at Aberdeen saw them drop two crucial points (BBC).

Celtic’s recent performances have seen Lennon win the Manager of the Month award for November. While Celtic fans are ecstatic, they want to see Lennon make all of it work out against Rangers in the final on Sunday.

The Bhoys go into the Cup final on Sunday, hoping to lay their hands on the 19th League Cup crown. As manager of Celtic, Lennon has not won the trophy yet and it will be the first time he ever wins it.

In total though, Lennon has won the Premiership title four times and has also helped the side win the Scottish Cup twice so far this season. One of those was won last season itself.

This season, the Hoops have beaten Dunfermline, Partick Thistle and Lennon’s former club Hibernian in the League Cup. Rangers, on the other hand, have beaten East Fife, Livingston and Hearts in the tournament.

What do we think?

Both the clubs head into the final with potentially contrasting morales. The Hoops picked up a last-ditch 2-1 win over Hamilton in mid-week, while the Gers were held to a 2-2 draw by Aberdeen away from home.

The fact that the win came very late in the game for Celtic means that they will come into the derby with immense confidence about winning the trophy. Rangers, on the other hand, will have to be wary of not being mentally ready.
