Some Celtic fans are unhappy with Neil Lennon’s decision to play Ryan Christie on the right and to use James Forrest on the left-wing on a regular basis.

Their recent 2-1 win over St. Mirren saw the Hoops remain at the top of the Premiership on Boxing Day and keep their distance. The game against St. Mirren saw James Forrest score and Callum McGregor also find the back of the net for the Hoops.

Celtic fans: Should Forrest and Christie play in their prefered positions?

No, Lennon knows best!

But some Celtic fans are not happy with Lennon’s team selection. They feel that Christie and Forrest are being wasted when being used in wide positions.

So far this season, Ryan Christie has been one of Celtic’s most influential players under Neil Lennon. The 24-year-old has made 32 appearances for the Hoops this season, scoring 17 times and racking up a total of 13 assists as well.

While playing as the attacking midfielder, he has made 15 appearances and has found the back of the net eight times, racking up five assists.

As for Forrest, he has also enjoyed a very good season. The Scotsman has played 34 times in all competitions. He has a tally of 14 goals and as many as 16 assists. He and Christie have contributed to the same number of goals for the Bhoys.

Forrest has been used on the left-wing only nine times this season. While playing there, he has scored thrice and has five assists.

What do we think?

The idea behind playing Christie and Forrest out wide is possibly to add more muscle in that position. But it doesn’t exactly the best out of them. To maximise their numbers, Lennon has to play Forrest and Christie in their preferred positions.
