Some Celtic fans have made it clear that Leigh Griffiths has now met the end of his career at Parkhead following the club’s recent 2-1 win over Aberdeen in the Premiership at the weekend.

The Hoops are now unbeaten in the Premiership for over two months and the last time they lost a game in the league was against Livingston back in October. The win over Aberdeen saw the Hoops take their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Odsonne Edouard scored a goal, while Christopher Jullien also scored a goal of his own. Griffiths came on to play the last 13 minutes of the clash as a substitute for the French striker.

Celtic fans: Is time up for Leigh Griffiths?

He is done, sadly enough

He is done, sadly enough

He's still good enough

And some Hoops fans feel that Griffiths’ time at Parkhead is already over and it is time to get rid of him as soon as possible.

Griffiths joined Celtic from current Premier League side Wolves in January of 2014 for a fee of £1million. Since then, Griffiths has played 219 times in all competitions for the club and racked up a tally of 107 goals and 46 assists.

This season though, Griffiths has been struggling with fitness. He has played 16 times in all competitions, scoring thrice and assisting once so far. All the three goals came early on in the season and before he sustained a hamstring injury. Since returning, he has made just one start in all competitions and that came in the Europa League game against Cluj.

Last season, Griffiths had scored 20 times in all competitions for the club. He racked up a tally of six goals and two assists. In December last year, Griffiths took a break due to mental health issues.

What do we think?

Celtic should only part ways with Griffiths if they are sure of replacing him and have a replacement in mind already. If they don’t they could well be short of numbers in the forward position and that can be a problem as the season wears on.
