Some Celtic fans are discussing what they need in the upcoming January transfer window and they’re sure that the club needs another striker in the winter.

The Hoops are currently at the top of the Premiership table and their recent 2-1 win over Aberdeen saw them extend their lead up to five points.

Celtic have also advanced into the knockout stages of the Europa League. They will take on Copenhagen in the next round of the competition.

But with the January transfer window set to open in about a week, some Hoops fans are sure that they need new signings.

Some are confident that they need a striker more than anything else.

So far this season, Neil Lennon’s men have scored 52 goals in the Premiership season- the highest in the league. Rangers at second, having scored a total of 50 times in the Premiership.

The club’s first-choice striker is Odsonne Edouard, who is a product of the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy. This season, the striker has scored 15 times in all competitions, racking up 13 assists on the way while playing 29 games.

The second-choice striker is Leigh Griffiths, who recently returned to full fitness after sustaining a hamstring injury early in the season. Griffiths has played 16 times in all competitions this season, having scored three goals and he has one assist to his name too.

Lewis Morgan has also been used as a striker this season, having scored twice and assisting thrice so far.

What do we think?

A lot depends on where Griffiths goes. If he can still play as the backup striker behind Edouard, Celtic may not need a second-choice forward. He is still 29 and can still fire when on song. The next few weeks will say a lot.
