Some Celtic fans are desperate to see their club get rid of  Scott Sinclair as they think there’s no time for sentiment at the club.

The Hoops are at the top of the Premiership table this season and find themselves two points ahead of their rivals.  They’ve already qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League and will face Copenhagen in the Round of 32 of the competition. Having said that, Scott Sinclair hasn’t been part of these successes.

Celtic fans: Is time up for Scott Sinclair?

There's still a player in there

Get rid of him!

Get rid of him!

The Englishman has been frozen out under Neil Lennon this season. A debate broke out on Twitter about him and some Celtic fans feel that time is up for him already.

Sinclair’s situation has gone downhill since last season, when he played a total of 55 games in all competitions. He racked up a tally of 17 goals and also had as many as six assists to his name during this time.

But this season, Sinclair has played only seven times in all competitions for the Hoops. He has racked up a tally of two goals. He recently did make his first start for the club and played full of 90 minutes of the club’s 2-0 loss to Cluj.

He arrived at the club from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016. Since then, he has played 167 times in all competitions for the club. The £3.6m-rated winger (as per TransferMarkt) has racked up a tally of 62 goals and as many as 34 assists.

What do we think?

The fact that Sinclair started in a dead-rubber game against Cluj shows a lot about where he currently is in the pecking order. His contributions at the club have been very valuable over the last few years. But with his contract at the club running out in the summer of 2020, Celtic could well part ways with him. It is probably the best time to let him go.
