This post then gathered some replies from Villa fans who were quick to share their thoughts on the footage.

It was SNP MP Ian Blackford that claimed that Scottish side Hibernian “gifted” McGinn to the Birmingham club last year.
Do you agree that McGinn was "gifted" to Aston Villa?
Yes
No
The Scottish midfielder joined Villa in 2018 for a fee of £2.79 million (per TransferMarkt). Since then, McGinn has become a fan favourite at Villa Park under Dean Smith. In his time at Villa, McGinn has made 64 appearances, scoring 11 goals and picking up 12 assists as well (per TransferMarkt).
Now that McGinn was mentioned in Parliament, it got some Villa fans talking on Twitter.

What do we think?
It’s always interesting to see or hear football or footballers mentioned outside of the usual footballing surroundings. While it may have been in just a light-hearted jibe, it’s nice to see these Villa fans thinking having a player mentioned in Parliament makes them a massive club.
