Aston Villa fans have been making their feelings known on Twitter over a potential move for Christian Benteke.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @AVFC_Religion shared a post on their page saying they would “seriously consider” taking Benteke back at Villa Park.
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who did not share the same opinion.
Would you want to see Christian Benteke return to Villa?
Yes, bring him back
No, keep him
Here’s a sample of Villa fans not wanting to see Benteke back at Villa:
So we have one out of form striker and then we go and sign another one? Brilliant

Anyone who thinks this clearly hasn’t seen him play recently. That and it never works bringing and old player back to rekindle his prime years.

I like the fan hype about him but wouldn’t sign him. I remember fans hating him his last season with us calling him lazy and useless same as what they are doing with Wesley now confidence plays a big part with these strikers unfortunately neither have it atm

The Belgian, who is valued at £11.7 million (Transfermarkt), spent three years at the Birmingham club before making a big-money move to Liverpool in 2015. During his time at Villa Park, the striker made 101 appearances for the club, scoring 49 goals and picking up 12 assists along the way (per TransferMarkt). Benteke now plays for London club Crystal Palace, but a potential move back to Birmingham has not gone down well with some Villa fans.
I’m not pro Wesley but I can’t see how Benteke is the answer. He seems to have lost all goal scoring ability these days

Four years ago, yeah he was a beast who thrived on being the main man in a struggling team but now I think he’s lost his mojo

Nah move on

What do we think?
It seems as though some Villa fans have made their mind up over a potential return to Villa Park for one of their former heroes. Given Benteke’s poor record for Palace so far this season, having not scored a goal in 15 appearances (per TransferMarkt), this may be a prime reason why he is not wanted back at Villa.
Indeed, signing a striker who is arguably worse off than Wesley certainly wouldn’t go down well.
