Aston Villa fans have been responding to Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s comments after his side beat Villa 3-1 on Saturday.
This comes after Villa journalist Ashley Preece shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying quotes made from the Southampton boss after his side’s 3-1 win at Villa Park.
Hasenhuttl claimed his side had “a lot of runs” in behind the Villa defence throughout the game.
Do Villa need to change their team formation?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who were quick to react to the Austrian’s quotes.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to Hasenhuttl’s comments:
He wont be the last one to say that. Smith doesnt realize or he is to stubborn to accknowledge the fact that our squad is not even close to being good enough to play the 4-3-3 system he prefers. #avfc

Smith is being out coached weekly at the moment and offering no answers.
We all love him and want him to be a success here but football is a fickle business and if he cant alter his tactics then unfortunately he will be gone and so will we.
Come on Deano, show us something else.— Gary Glasgow (@GPDecorating) December 21, 2019
Can’t argue with any of those quotes! Very poor performance & they seem to be getting worse by the week which is very worrying

The defeat against Southampton saw Villa succumb to their 11th Premier League defeat so far, resulting in them dropping into the relegation zone. After Hasenhuttl’s comments after the match, some Villa fans decided to lay the blame at Dean Smith’s feet.
The worst we have played. Most definitely in a relegation battle now.

Players don’t believe in deans system it’s quite clear dean is to stubborn to change the system and make the changes tactics we don’t have all the clubs they isolate jack and villa can not play no plan B dean smith time to go if went a chance of survival otherwise it’s a Fulham

The fact he made no changes at a point where we could influence the game says it all. Zero idea defensively. His stubbornness ref Wesley up top alone and Jack out wide is proving costly.

What do we think?
Now that Villa have entered the relegation zone, it seems that some Villa fans are becoming more and more restless with Smith’s tactical choices.
If Villa are to survive this season, maybe a change in formation would benefit the team somewhat, though, they don’t want to leave themselves too exposed at the back and can’t afford to offer little support for Wesley, so it’s a difficult one.
