Spurs fans were quick to slam Heung-Min Son after he was sent off in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea for a kick at defender Antonio Rudiger.
The South Korean was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor following a VAR review after he looked to kick the Chelsea defender in the ribs in the second half. His sending off cost Spurs any real chance of getting anything from the game, with Lampard’s Chelsea side re-establishing their six-point lead over Spurs in the race for a top-four spot.
It is the third time which Son has been sent off this calendar year, with the 27-year-old having already been shown red cards in games against Bournemouth and Everton, which is, according to LastWordonSpurs, more than any other player in the Premier League in 2019. The former Leverkusen man has been in excellent form for Spurs since the appointment of Mourinho in November; but really cost his new manager with a 4.89 rating against Chelsea.

He needs to stop reacting like this, he’s not learning from his mistakes…

1st one was silly but I’ve seen worse called a yellow. 2nd the ref lost his head and was rightfully overturned. But this one was just stupid from Son.

That was stupid from Son. Let his emotions get the better of them.

He kicked out like a child. Cost the game.

These Spurs fans were clearly frustrated with Son after his rash challenge, with the South Korean now also missing three games in a busy festive period.
What do we think?
It was a crazy decision by Son and once it went to VAR it was always going to be given as a red card. Perhaps a break over Christmas is what the winger needs to rediscover his best form and work on his temperament. It will be interesting to see if Mourinho continues to start the £72 million rated man once his suspension has been served.
