Spurs fans were given a reminder of just how good Giovani Lo Celso can be after a video was posted on Twitter showing some of the goals he scored for Real Betis.
The video, which was posted by James Spurs 1882, shows the Argentinian scoring some lovely goals for his parent club Betis. The 23-year-old midfielder has struggled for game time since joining Spurs on loan in the summer; having made just three starts so far this season for the North London club.
The former PSG man was signed by former manager Mauricio Pochetttino during the summer transfer window, with the potential for a permanent deal should Spurs qualify for the Champions League. Injury prevented Lo Celso from making any real impression under the 47-year-old at the start of the season and following the appointment of Mourinho in November, the loanee has barely featured.
Should Lo Celso start against Brighton on Boxing Day?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the video of Lo Celso can be seen in the tweets below.
Him and Ndombele NEED to be our midfield 2 with Dele number 10. NO QUESTIONS

Really can’t understand why we are not seeing more of him??? Dele has done well under JM but wasn’t at it today so was an obvious change to make for me. I think he is suffering from being yet another “10” as Poch seemed to stock pile them!

Let’s face it jose doesn’t like him and what a shame he’s playing ERIC DIER instead of him what a waste of a loan deal I’ll like to keep him but lo celso is unhappy he’s going back to real betis such a shame.

He’s good in videos, but clearly isn’t doing much in training, or doesn’t fit the system. He hasn’t done enough in his cameos either, tho was strong against red star. Still would rather see him coming on than Eriksen. Interesting January ahead.

Really don’t get what Jose is seeing in Eriksen. Absolutely woeful again yesterday when he came on, particularly his set pieces. Would rather Lo Celso playing and taking a bit of time to adjust to the premier league than wasting our time with a guy who doesn’t want to be here.

It seems like JM doesn’t fancy him and he doesn’t fit PL and Spurs.Maybe it’s better to let him go back to Laliga.

How is Sissoko starting ahead of this guy?!

All the hype around signing him. What a farce

These Spurs fans would clearly love to see Lo Celso start more often under Mourinho but fear that he may well be sent back to Real Betis if he can’t force his way into the side.
What do we think?
Lo Celso’s future with Spurs may well be shaped over the next few games, with Heung-Min Son suspended and Christian Eriksen potentially leaving, then you would hope that the 23-year-old might start to feature more. He was impressive on his start against Red Star Belgrade; scoring in their 4-0 win, but it seems like the £45 million rated man will have to do a lot more to impress Mourinho.
