Spurs fans were delighted to hear that the club is planning to be proactive in the January transfer window, with Daniel Levy reportedly backing Jose Mourinho with a big budget.
According to Sky Sports (via Ricky Sacks), Spurs are expected to make signings in the upcoming transfer window and the new manager will be provided with the funds he needs to strengthen certain positions. This comes as good news for a lot of Spurs fans and Mourinho, who will, of course, be looking to finish the season in the top four positions, having taken over from Mauricio Pochettino with the club languishing in 14th position.
You suspect that Mourinho will look to strengthen Spurs’ struggling defence in the window, with the North London club having kept just two clean sheets in the Premier League all season, something which has surprisingly not improved since the Portuguese manager’s arrival in November.
Do Spurs need to strengthen in January?

We hear this every transfer window…. last week we had no money to spend, what’s changed? Did we get a £200m bonus from Janssen winning the league in Mexico? That would be Levy at his absolute best

These Spurs fans are clearly delighted with the news and will be hoping to see the club bring in some fresh faces in January.
What do we think?
You would expect Mourinho to trim the squad and try to sell players such as Victor Wanyama and possibly Danny Rose. If he is backed with funds then Spurs need to strengthen their full-backs and bring in an experienced back-up striker for Harry Kane. If they can do this and sort out their defensive issues, then there is no reason why they can’t finish in the top four.
