Spurs fans received the news that Jose Mourinho is planning for life without Christian Eriksen at Spurs after the midfielder confirmed he would not sign a new contract with the club.
According to the Telegraph (via HotspurRelated), the 27-year-old has reiterated his desire to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer when his current contract expires. The Danish international has been with Spurs since 2013 when he signed from Ajax and has gone on to make 293 appearances for the club; scoring 68 goals.
Eriksen, who was once a fan favourite, had Spurs fans turn against him when he stated his desire to leave at the end of last season, following Spurs’ defeat in the Champions League final.
Former manager Mauricio Pochettino had looked to sell the £90 million rated man over the summer but it now seems as if the North London club will lose him for nothing.
Should Christian Eriksen be dropped to the reserves?

Excellent news. Now stop putting him in the bench. Let him rot and give someone else who cares a go

It’s time for Eriksen to go we’ve been playing without him for a while now. He’s past his best.

Coward. Not good enough to play for either Spanish clubs. Betraying Mou for more money and a slim chance at enjoying winning a double in which he becomes another Coutinho will make me laugh

These Spurs fans clearly feel no love towards Eriksen and many want the club to do everything in their power to get rid of the creative midfielder in January.
What do we think?
It will be interesting to see how Mourinho opts to utilise Eriksen now, as if he doesn’t want to play for the club you wouldn’t expect him to be anywhere near the first team, especially considering the recent form of Dele Alli. The Danish international showed his quality in changing the game against Olympiakos but may now have to settle for a place in the reserves until the end of the season.
