Spurs fans were treated to the news that the club have opened negotiations with Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly over a potential January move and fans are certainly excited.
According to Spanish news outlet Eldesmarque (via RickySacks), Spurs have begun negotiations with Napoli over the possible transfer of Koulibaly, with Mourinho keen to strengthen his new defence.
The Senegalese defender has established himself as one of the world’s best in his position in recent years and has averaged a 7.06 rating so far this season.
The 28-year-old has made 230 appearances for the Italian giants in his time with the club but could be set to make the move to the Premier League in January if Mourinho can negotiate a deal. According to the report from Eldesmarque, Koulibaly would cost Spurs €100 million (£84 million) which would make him the most expensive defender of all-time, overtaking the £80 million Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire in the summer.
Would Koulibaly be a good signing for Spurs?

This would be club changing if we manage this, he will turn sanchez into a monster and Koulibaly alone is a different level

These Spurs fans are clearly keen on signing Koulibaly, although many remain sceptical of the chances of Daniel Levy splashing £80 million on one player.
What do we think?
There is a lot of unrest at Napoli at the moment and Spurs could seriously take advantage of that by bringing in one of the world’s best defenders. Spurs kept just their second clean sheet of the season in the weekend win over Burnley and Koulibaly could seriously add to Mourinho’s options at the back.
