Some Southampton fans have expressed their desperation to see their club make a mark in the January transfer window and are protesting against the ownership of Gao Jisheng.

The Saints recently endured a disappointing 1-0 loss at the Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United. It was their second loss in a row, as they had also lost to Steve Bruce’s Newcastle a week before their defeat to the Hammers.

But these two losses came after a couple of wins against Norwich and Watford. While those wins had lifted the Saints out of the relegation zone, they are now back in the bottom three.

Some Saints fans are clamouring for their club to make investments in the upcoming January transfer window and are hating to see Gao Jisheng in-charge at the St.Marys’.

The Saints find themselves at the 18th spot in the Premier League now, because of the defeats in the last two games. The upcoming league game sees them face fellow strugglers Aston Villa.

So far this season, the Saints have scored the least number of goals in the Premier League. They’ve let in as many as 36 goals in the division– one more than Norwich City. Their 9-0 loss to Leicester City made sure than they’ve let in more goals than anyone else.

When it comes to goalscoring, the Saints are at the fourth-lowest spot in the Premier League. They’ve scored 18 goals in total, with nine of them coming from star striker Danny Ings.

What do we think?

While the ownership issues are a problem for the club, their Premier League survival should be their main concern in the short-term. The club has been a regular in the division over the last few years and has given a platform to many well-known players to go to bigger clubs and perform.

They need to make the right signings in January to survive the drop. Shoring up the defence and taking some burden off Ings should be very important this winter as it will give them a better chance of remaining in the division.
