Manchester City are interested in bringing Nathan Ake to the Etihad Stadium in order to boost their central defensive options.
Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled to cope with the injury to Aymeric Laporte and the departure of Vincent Kompany, therefore, many believe the club are actively looking for a centre-back ahead of the January transfer window.
The report from Sky Sports claims that Chelsea are in pole position to recapture the Dutchman thanks to a clause they included in the deal when he was sold to Bournemouth in 2017 for £20m but that will not stop City from rivalling Frank Lampard’s side in the pursuit of Ake’s services.

What do we think?
Nathan Ake has shown great signs of promise in recent seasons and having regular game time at Bournemouth has certainly benefitted the centre-back. Now a fully fledged Dutch international, Ake seems ready to move onto a bigger club but given their buy-back clause and the relationship he already has with Chelsea, it’s difficult to see how they would allow him to move to the Etihad instead – particularly now their transfer ban has been lifted.
Guardiola may like the player and what young footballer would pass up the opportunity to work with such an elite coach but Chelsea stand in their way and therefore he will only be moving to Manchester if they turn their attention elsewhere.
