Manchester City have been drawn against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the last 16 of this season’s UEFA Champions League. Pep Guardiola’s side will travel to the Bernabeu on Wednesday 26th February and the return leg will take place in Manchester on Tuesday 17th March.
In recent seasons, City have become renowned of being extremely fortunate in cup draws, particularly in domestic competition and so a tie versus a club who have won the Champions League in four out of the last six seasons should see a change of narrative as far as rival supporters are concerned.

What do we think?
Pep Guardiola will have hoped for a less daunting opponent but at the same time, he’ll be licking his lips at the prospect of going head to head with an old rival. The Spaniard began his managerial career with Barcelona and famously had the upper hand over Los Blancos. His outstanding Barcelona side won three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions Leagues during his four-year stint as manager.
Real Madrid no longer have Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks and he was pivotal to their success in this competition over the past six seasons, therefore, City will be confident they can progress to the last eight. The Cityzen’s have had troubles of their own this season but on their day, as they proved against Arsenal, they can beat anybody with relative ease.
