West Bromwich Albion fans were in good spirits after their side beat managerless Stoke City on Monday night at the bet365 Stadium.
Albion were 0-2 victors, with a first-half goal from Matt Phillips and a second-half penalty from substitute Hal Robson-Kanu sealing all three points.
The result sent the Baggies back to the top of the Championship, two points ahead of Preston, Leeds and Swansea – all of whom won at the weekend.
Fans on Twitter tweeted their delight at the team’s hard-fought efforts in Staffordshire.

And how’s this for a stat?
West Brom have won as many games as Stoke in Stoke in the last 288 days (2).

What do we think?
With Stoke sacking Nathan Jones late last week with the club in the Championship relegation zone, there probably was not a better time all season to play them. No new manager bounce and a chance for the Baggies to take advantage instead. Indeed, they did that and now they’ve catapulted themselves back to the top of the league, which was imperative as their promotion rivals all grabbed wins at the weekend. A quick recovery is necessary now before a potentially tough trip to Hull City on Saturday.
