Some Swansea City fans are delighted that the club’s vice-president Leigh Dineen stepped down from his post yesterday.
Dineen, who has been a part of the Liberty Stadium-based side since 2001, had taken over various roles at the club since then.
His prominence reduced at Swansea since 2016 – when the majority sale of the club took place and a Chief Operations Officer was installed.
The Welsh club thanked Dineen for his services in a statement on the official website, but some fans are delighted that he isn’t at the club anymore.
We can confirm that Leigh Dineen has stepped down from his position as the club’s vice-chairman.

Can the club confirm he will not be permitted to any previous advantages his previous role would have given him like tickets or access to directors box?
Get them all out!!

Dineen had overseen the club’s rise from the Football League to the Premier League and back into Championship during his time at Swansea.
He is said to have played a role in making sure that they went from the bottom of the Football League pyramid to the first division. He also helped them out during times of financial insecurity.
In the statement, the club confirmed that they are not looking to appoint a new vice-president currently.
Some fans were also sad that Dineen has left. They feel he did a lot for the club and helped them in the rise to as high as playing in the Europa League in the 2013-14 season.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but if it weren’t for him back in the day we wouldn’t have had the good days don’t @ me,

Great servant to the club. We wouldn’t have had 7 years of premier league football, a cup and an European campaign if it wasn’t for Leigh and co! It might not have ended well but we’ve all got memories that we would never have had if it wasn’t for them.

Swansea are currently fourth in the Championship table and their recent 1-0 win over Cardiff City was their first win in as many as eight league games. Their next game sees Steve Cooper’s men travel to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
What do we think?
Someone who has been at the club for 18 long years deserves a huge amount of respect. While things did go sour towards the end, it is remarkable for a club like Swansea to play a Europa League campaign years after being at the bottom of the Football League structure. Not many clubs can boast of that. Dineen should be respected immensely for that.
