Liverpool fans on Twitter have been criticising Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson after he made comments on Liverpool’s title charge.
This comes after Liverpool news Twitter account @LivEchoLFC shared a post on their official page that included an article from their website about the Icelandic midfielder’s comments (Fotbolti.net – via Sport Witness) warning Liverpool about their title aspirations.
This tweet then gathered several replies from Liverpool fans that were not happy with the Everton playmaker’s comments and then used it as an opportunity to have a dig at him and his club.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans slating Sigurdsson about his remarks:
He is right, the title isn’t won as yet. Just like their relegation battle isn’t done yet. They can still go down.

I don’t think he should be worrying about the title tbh.

What would he know about winning titles ? He literally has never won anything

The 30-year-old, who is currently valued at £31.5 million, according to Transfermarkt, stated that Liverpool have not yet won their first-ever Premier League title, despite being eight points ahead at the top of the table after beating reigning Premier League champions Manchester City 3-1 on Sunday (BBC Sport).
You should be focusing on beating the drop boy not us

How would he know when a title race is over or not, we’ll seek to is advice if we’re ever involved in a relegation battle.
— Dominic Scarr (@noitstrue) November 13, 2019
Just as they are not safe from relegation, I suppose.

Glad we didn’t sign him. Lallana 5 x better and he doesn’t make the team
— danny (@dannyodanny) November 13, 2019
Wondering why he even got asked or mentioned Liverpool when he is a small team player

What do we think?
Given that Everton currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, it may not have been the best idea for Sigurdsson to be making negative comments about Liverpool’s title charge and not expect some backlash. But what Sigurdsson said is indeed true, the title has not yet been won.
Nevertheless, these comments did rile up some Liverpool fans.
