Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to share their disbelief over the recent injury update of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson ahead of Sunday’s showdown at Anfield.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldWatch shared a post containing an article from the Evening Standard that reported that the Brazilian has not recovered in time for Sunday’s match after picking up a thigh-strain in City’s midweek Champions League draw with Atalanta.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from suspicious Liverpool fans that weren’t convinced Ederson’s reported absence will come true.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans thinking Ederson will start at Anfield on Sunday:
He’ll play

I guarantee Ederson will start on Sunday. This is the same as De Gera last month. Mind games

Ederson has been influential to City’s season so far this year. He currently sits at the top of the goalkeeper clean sheets list with five alongside Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson (per Transfermarkt).
So now we know who’s definitely starting. If he was actually injured, we wouldn’t have known it until team sheet s were announced.

What do we think?
In the run-up to Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month, it was announced that goalkeeper David de Gea would not feature in the match due to injury. But, on the day of the game, De Gea did actually play in the 1-1 draw, so Liverpool fans may be sceptical.
However, it he doesn’t play then Liverpool fans will surely feel even more confident as the Brazilian has helped City top the list for clean sheets in the Premier League this season.
