Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to share their disappointments over James Milner’s performance against Napoli on Wednesday.
Milner was gifted a starting place against Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli side in their 1-1 draw in the Champions League group clash.
However, Milner’s performance led to numerous Liverpool fans tweeting their frustrations with the veteran midfielder.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans slating Milner and his performance against Napoli:
Milner & Hendo starting in the ECL and we are losing. Klopp just wants his 2 favorite midfielders to be successful regardless of their ability. If klopp buys proper attacking midfielders #lfc would be unstoppable. This rinse and repeat situation is just stupid and infuriating

The Gini/Hendo/Milner midfield is the worst we can have…they offer absolutely nothing as a collective. Not even testing the goal keeper tonight…this is as bad as it gets. #LFC

When we don’t play one of the regular full backs we should play Ox or Keita. Henderson, Wijnaldum & Milner don’t create & without Trent tonight it’s a struggle. Losing Fabinho hurt us, hope he isn’t out for long. #LFC

The 33-year-old played 78 minutes against Napoli before being replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 1-1 draw with the Italian giants. However, he received a 7.6 rating (WhoScored), so it’s quite a surprise to see fans slating him.
Nevertheless, some Liverpool fans were still displeased with what they saw from Milner in his time on the pitch.
Should James Milner leave Liverpool?

What was klopps tactics tonite?? Because I don’t even think he knew. Clueless in my opinion tonite. And he thinks our midfield doesnt need upgrading. I pray I never see milner starting again unless it’s carabao cup or fa cup. He is done at this level was garbage.

What do we think?
Over the years, Milner has been a good servant not just to Liverpool but to the Premier League as a whole. Since his Premier League debut in the 2002/03 season, Milner has gone on to make 526 appearances, scoring 54 goals and making 83 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
Many fans clearly didn’t like some aspects of his game, but it seems harsh to slate him after witnessing his impressive rating of 7.6.
