Some Liverpool fans have been criticising former Reds winger Jordan Ibe on Twitter.

This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their page asking their followers their opinions on Ibe’s time at the Merseyside club.

This post then gathered numerous replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share their criticisms of the winger.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans reflecting negatively on Ibe’s time at Anfield:

Ibe, who is valued at £7.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), joined the Liverpool U18 squad in 2012 from Wycombe Wanderers, and then he went on to make 58 appearances for the Merseyside club, but only managed to score four goals and grabbed eight assists (per Transfermarkt).

In 2016, Ibe was sold to fellow Premier League side Bournemouth for a fee of £16.2 million. In 92 appearances for Bournemouth, Ibe has scored five goals and assisted nine times, beating his record at Anfield (per Transfermarkt).

Now that time has passed since his departure from Liverpool, some Reds fans have been sharing their opinions on why Ibe did not succeed at the club as they had hoped.

Interestingly, one fan even mentioned the fact that he had a chance to be the next Raheem Sterling, which could be down to the fact he was tipped as a natural replacement for the Englishman. Although, it’s safe to say that both men achieved different levels of success during their time at Liverpool, with Sterling bagging 23 goals and 25 assists and Ibe struggling slightly with his four goals and eight assists, as mentioned above.

What do we think?

Based off what these Liverpool fans have been saying, it seems as though Ibe falls into the category of players that have not lived up to their full potential. Perhaps the pressure on Ibe being a suitable replacement for Raheem Sterling hindered his progression as a Liverpool player.
