Charlton Athletic defender Jason Pearce has apologised to the club’s supporters for conceding the penalty that condemned the Addicks to their fifth league defeat of the season. Preston North End left The Valley with a valuable three points after Jayden Stockley went down in the penalty area following a tangle with Pearce just shy of the hour mark.
Despite Pearce’s costly mistake the supporters were extremely receptive to the player’s message and showed their support and appreciation for the 31-year-old’s efforts.
Good to see you holding your hand up for the penalty – Shame as the referee was constantly letting those challenges go unpunished from both teams in the first half so dont know why he changed his mind for that one

Don’t apologise you have been brilliant this season. Most fans would have been happy with 4th from bottom this season so well on target.

What do we think?
Jason Pearce joined Charlton from Wigan Athletic back in 2016 and is a natural-born leader. The captain will have felt hard done by when David Webb pointed to the spot on Sunday, as there was certainly contact but whether it was enough to take Stockley down is questionable. But what’s done is done and it’s time for the Charlton staff and supporters to focus on the trip to local rivals Milwall this coming Saturday. If the Addicks were to win at the Den, all would surely be forgiven.
