Some Swansea City fans are certain as to who should win October’s Goal of the Month award this time around.

Steve Cooper’s men picked up just two wins in the month of October, but they managed to score five times in five games. Two of those goals came in their 2-1 win over Charlton early in the season.

They scored one in their win in the South Wales Derby, in which the Swans picked up a crucial 1-0 win. It was Watford loanee Ben Wilmot who scored a first-half goal and that proved to be the winner.

Swansea’s Twitter handle asked fans as to who the Goal of the Month award should go to. Some of them were certain as to who the winner must be.

The 20-year-old Wilmot joined the Welsh club on loan from the Hornets this past summer and the goal against Cardiff was his first for the club. He has played five times in all competitions for the club.

He has played all his games at centre-back and last season, the Stevenage-born defender was on loan at Serie A side Udinese. He played only five times for the club before returning to Hertfordshire in the summer.

Before moving to Italy, Wilmot had played twice in the Premier League for Watford. Both of them were appearances from the bench.

Some more fans chimed in, hailing Wilmot’s goal.

The Swans got back to winning ways after their win against Cardiff as it was their first win in four games in the Championship. They had started off their campaign in some style, winning five of their first six games, drawing one.

Their next game sees them travel to Sheffield Wednesday, as they look to win their third league game in a row.

What do we think?

The importance that Wilmot’s goal carries means the world to Swansea fans. It stamped the club’s bragging rights in Wales and lifted them up to fourth in the Championship. Considering all that, the Englishman’s goal deserves to win the Goal of the Month award.
