Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their disappointments with the latest injury update to goalkeeper Jed Steer.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying quotes from Dean Smith’s latest press conference announcing the news that Steer will be out for “3-4 months” due to a partial tear in his Achilles.
This post then gathered numerous replies from Villa fans wanting to show their sympathy for the ‘keeper.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans sharing their dismay over Steer’s injury:
Oh no! Poor jed. It was good to see him between the sticks again. Is Tom Heaton OK for Monday or is it going to be Nyland?

gutted for him. He’s a legend in my eyes and I hope he gets more PL minutes when he comes back.

Poor Jed, lad can’t seem to catch a break

Hope he recovers quickly, always a legend in my eyes

The 27-year-old shot-stopper suffered this injury in Villa’s previous Premier League game, their 2-1 defeat to Birmingham rivals Wolves before the international break. Steer only played a handful of minutes in the match before having to come off due to the injury.
With this latest update on the severity of his injury and with him looking to miss a big part of the season, some Villa fans have taken the time to wish him well on Twitter.
Poor bloke

I thought it was going to be a long one, could see when he tried to put weight on it, so unlucky for the bloke.

Disappointed for him. We wouldn’t have got promoted without his stellar performances in the second half of the season.

What do we think?
News of the severity of Steer’s injury and the hefty length of time he will miss because of it will be a sucker punch. Not only to Steer himself but also to the Villa fans.
Dean Smith’s first-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton has also struggled with an injury recently, so with news of Steer’s injury, there will be pressure on Heaton to remain fit for the foreseeable future while Steer recovers.
