Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their enthusiasm for the club’s recent player recruitment deals.

This comes off the back of a tweet shared by sports writer Matt Maher on his Twitter account saying how Villa’s starting XI against Liverpool contained 10 of the 13 summer signings the club made in the previous transfer window.

This tweet was met with praise by Villa fans for their club’s recent recruitment of players since their promotion from the Championship last season.

Here’s a sample of Villa fans happy with the current crop of newly-recruited players:

The 2019 summer transfer window saw Villa make a complete overhaul of players to their squad in preparation of their new season back in the Premier League. The most expensive signings were the £22.5 million purchase of centre-forward Wesley from Belgian side Club Brugge, as well as the £20 million capture of defender Tyrone Mings from fellow Premier League side Bournemouth (per Transfermarkt). Indeed, midfielder John McGinn was the only starter against Liverpool at the weekend who was at the club on a permanent deal last season.

The success of these signings to the club have all been a hit with the Villa fans.

What do we think?

A lot of Villa’s summer signings have been excellent and adapted to the Premier League well. For clubs coming up from the Championship, a huge player overhaul isn’t always the best move. A prime example of this is Fulham last season, they brought in a large number of players in preparation for their season in the Premier League. But in the end, they ended up returning to the Championship after finishing in 19th position in the Premier League (Sky Sports). But for Villa, things seem to be going in the right direction for the club and their summer signings.
