Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their frustrations over the latest transfer rumour involving the club.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @villareport shared a post on their page relaying a rumour originally reported by Sport24 that the club are interested in signing Austria Vienna striker Christoph Monschein in the upcoming January transfer window.
This post then led to a number of Villa fans replying with their negative opinions on the supposed transfer interest.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans dismayed by the latest transfer rumour:
Weimann 2.0?

I am from Austria and I can tell you he isn’t good enough. I would love an Austrian Player at Villa again but not him, because he isn’t good enough to play in the Prem.

We were expecting Morelos and now we’re down to this guy ? Honestly it’s another bet , we need a more certain signing , this guys would need too much time to adjust to the PL.

The 27-year-old striker has made 18 appearances for Austria Vienna this season, scoring 13 goals and assisting seven (per Transfermarkt). Despite this impressive record so far this season, some Villa fans don’t see Monschein as their answer to their current attacking problems.
And he doesn’t exactly fit in with the ethios of the recruitment now

What do we think?
It seems this latest transfer rumour has not gone down too well with some Villa fans. Monschein certainly has an impressive amount of contributions to his name, which would obviously lighten the load on the likes of Wesley, should he be able to replicate his form in the Premier League.
Villa currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table, just above the relegation zone. If Villa want to keep their place in the top tier of English football, they will need to bring in a goal-scorer in January that can hit the ground running in terms of scoring, with just Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davis supporting Wesley.
