Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their joy with Bjorn Engels after his performance in the defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.
This praise comes after the Villa defender tweeted his disappointment with their 2-1 defeat to the league leaders, but was delighted with his team’s performance.
The Belgian’s tweet was then met with a lot of Villa fans replying with their delight with his performance in the match.

The 25-year-old has played in every single Premier League match for Villa so far this year (per TransferMarkt). In their most recent match against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Villa managed to grab a 1-0 lead in the first half through winger Trezeguet. But, two late goals from Robertson and Mane snatched the three points away from the home side in dramatic fashion (BBC Sport).
Despite the heart-breaking result, some Villa fans were quick to point out the positives, particularly with Engel’s performance.

What do we think?
To keep Liverpool from scoring for 87 minutes is an achievement in itself, with the Merseyside club having scored 25 goals in the Premier League so far this season (per TransferMarkt). But their determination to win ended up being too much for the home side to handle.
It’s good to see the Villa fans standing behind their players and recognising their efforts even after a defeat. It’s clear to see that they are big fans of Engels and what he’s done for Villa since joining the club in the summer from French club Reims.
