Spurs fans were treated to an excellent midfield display by Tanguy Ndombele on Sunday, with many fans excited to see the Frenchman start and impress against Everton.
The 22-year-old, who signed in a club-record deal from Lyon in the summer, was handed just his 6th Premier League start of the season in Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Everton, with many fans disappointed when he was substituted in the second half. The French international has been regularly benched in place of Harry Winks so far this season but started at Goodison Park alongside Moussa Sissoko in central midfield.
Despite an impressive display, Ndombele was substituted after 73 minutes having received a yellow card, but it seems as if many Spurs fans would have preferred to see the tenacious midfielder stay on and try and see out the game. Ndombele received a 6.87 rating for his efforts against Everton, and many fans were complimentary of the midfielder’s performance in Sunday’s draw.
Some of the best reactions from Spurs fans to Ndombele’s performance can be seen in the tweets below.
He looks class, Eriksen on the other hand looks a shadow of the player he once was. Shouldn’t be in the starting 11 at the moment. #coys

He looks so good…Him and Sissoko look a partnership

Hugely exciting prospect. The performance so far has been so poor though. Lucas is showing why he doesn’t start, he doesn’t press well and he makes some strange runs. The team don’t look like creating a chance let alone scoring atm. Need a boost from somewhere.

Tanguy is the only player who looks decent. Another halfhearted display from Eriksen so far.

Cannot wait to see Winks, Ndombele and GLC as a regular three.
Will be a complete midfield with a bit of everything.

These Spurs fans were clearly impressed with the 22-year-old’s performance and will be hoping that he did enough to earn a start in their next game against Red Star on Wednesday.
What do we think?
Ndombele has been extremely impressive in Spurs’ Champions League performances; averaging a 7.44, but hasn’t really managed many minutes in the Premier League yet. In his limited time, however, he has managed two goals and one assist, which demonstrates the goalscoring threat he can provide for Pochettino’s side. Wednesday’s game offers Ndombele another opportunity to impress against the side whom he has produced his best Spurs performance so far, with fans surely hopeful of a repeat of the 5-0 thrashing last month.
