Some Celtic fans are absolutely ecstatic about the performance of Fraser Forster after their impressive 2-1 win over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico last night.

The Scottish giants came back from 1-0 down in Italy to beat Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio 2-1 after a stoppage winner from Olivier Ntcham in stoppage time won them the Europa League clash (BBC).

While many others are being hailed about how well they played at the Olimpico, goalkeeper Fraser Forster also impressed in goal for Neil Lennon’s men.

Some Celtic fans are still gushing about the Englishman’s performance against the Biancocelesti.

The 31-year-old rejoined Celtic on a loan deal from Premier League side Southampton this past summer. The move came after he had joined the Saints and had spent as many as five years at St Mary’s Stadium.

So far this season, the goalkeeper has played 14 times in all competitions for the Glasgow-based side. He has played nine times in the Scottish Premiership, keeping as many as five clean sheets and conceding just as many goals.

Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo too hailed Forster after the game. The veteran Italian told Tuttomercatoweb:

“As usual we are able to create a lot, we are not good at exploiting the opportunities that happen. In Europe you give an opportunity and they punish you, in Italy this is not always the case. Their goalkeeper was once again decisive.”

What do we think?

Celtic fans are right to laud Forster. The Southampton loanee kept them in the game multiple times when the score was still 1-1. And it is certainly pleasing to see that Forster is proving Southampton’s decision to loan him to be incorrect.
