Some Celtic fans can’t believe that the club didn’t start Greg Taylor in their home game against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

This game in the league came days after the Bhoys’ historic 2-1 win over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in the UEFA Europa League. It was a comeback win which left many of the club’s fans delighted about the performance.

Against Motherwell, Celtic did pick up a convincing 2-0 win at home. An own goal from Richard Tait and a first-half goal from Odsonne Edouard saw Neil Lennon’s men stay at the top of the league.

But some of the club’s fans were unhappy with the Lennon’s inability to hand a start to left-back Greg Taylor.

The 22-year-old defender joined Celtic from Kilmarnock this past summer for an undisclosed fee. So far this season, Taylor has played only six times in all competitions for Lennon’s side, not scoring or assisting even once.

For Kilmarnock last season, the Scotsman had played 31 times in the Scottish Premiership for his former club. He had managed to score once during that time, assisting as many as four times for the club.

Some more fans were in favour of Taylor start against Motherwell.

Taylor is already a Scotland international. He made his debut for the Scots first-team this past summer in a 3-0 loss to Belgium.

What do we think?

Whilst Jonny Hayes has done well in the games that he has played in, Taylor did enough earlier in the season to play more often than he has so far. He is more of a proper left-back than Hayes himself and it does appear to be rather strange that Lennon continues to omit him from his side when available.
