Celtic summer signing Christopher Jullien believes that the current side has the ‘best players’ he has ever played with in his career.

Jullien, 26, was recently talking about life in Glasgow recently in an interview that he gave to STV. He praised the current bunch of players, saying that it is easier to play with them because of the qualities they possess.

He said: “I am surrounded by the best players I have played with before.

“My teammates just now are simply the best that I have played with, it is so much easier to play well when you are playing with teammates like this.

“We have such good chemistry and I just try to do my job and if that is good for the club then that is all that matters.”

New arrival has started well

The Frenchman, Jullien, joined the Hoops from French side Toulouse this past summer for a fee of around £7million. He signed on a four-year deal to become the club’s first signing of the summer. The move made Jullien Celtic’s second-costliest signing and the defender is only behind Odsonne Edouard, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

So far this season, Jullien has played in 11 Scottish Premiership games. He has one assist in the league, but he has scored once in Celtic’s Europa League campaign. The former Toulouse man has played four times in the European competition this season.

The defender also played two times in the club’s Europa League qualification rounds and managed to find the back of the net too. He had scored in the club’s second-leg qualification round against the Swedish side AIK.

During his time at Toulouse, Jullien had played a total of 108 times in all competitions. He had scored eight times and had also assisted four times.

TIF Tactics

While Jullien is entitled to his opinion that this is the best set of players he has ever played with, his former club Toulouse were close to losing their Ligue 1 status last season. Jullien saw them finish 16th in the first division in France, avoiding relegation by just four points.

But that squad had Jean-Clair Todibo, who sealed a move to Barcelona in January in a deal that was brought forward last winter. The move was expected to happen in the summer, but Barca brought it forward for the winter.

The club also has former Arsenal man Yaya Sanogo and former AFC Bournemouth winger Max Gradel, as well as Manchester City youngster Manu Garcia. Ibrahim Sangare, 20, is known to be one of the best young midfield prospects in French football currently. He has been linked with a move to Lyon and some Premier League clubs.

But Toulouse are not European competition contenders, but Celtic have been doing that consistently for the last few years. That makes a big difference.
