Fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers have called for Raul Jimenez to be the club’s nailed-on penalty taker following the Slovan Bratislava clash.

In Wolves’ 1-0 victory over the Slovakian side on Thursday night, the Old Gold only narrowly claimed victory with an injury-time winner from the Mexican striker (per BBC).

However, things could have looked much easier for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had Ruben Neves converted a penalty early in the second half (per BBC).

With supporters frustrated that the Portuguese midfielder spurned the chance to put Wolves in front, they called for Jimenez to be the Old Gold’s number one on spot-kicks.

Wolves have converted all 14 of their previous spot-kicks, not missing one since a match against Sheffield United in Septemeber 2017 (via Talking Wolves).

With the latest coming as a shock to the system, many were left asking as to why the 22-year-old was deployed to take it in the first place.

What do we think?

While Neves’ penalty was on target, it was a poor effort, which has understandably led to the Molineux faithful calling for a consistent penalty taker.

Following his goal and 8/10 performance for the Old Gold last night (per Express and Star), it is clear Wolves have a safe bet on the goalscoring front in Raul Jimenez.
