Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed in his press conference ahead of the match against Blackburn Rovers that: “Barry Douglas will be available, but Ezgjan Alioski won’t.”
When speaking about other injury updates, the manager said:
“Eddie is the same as we’ve said before, he has an abdominal injury and week to week we will analyse the recovery of this injury.
“Now is one week, and the medical staff will tell in one more week how he’s progressing.
“In the next seven days, I will inform you again.”
In confirming that Eddie Nketiah will not play on Saturday, Patrick Bamford is likely to lead the way again for the Whites as they look to continue their pursuit for an automatic promotion spot.
“Jamie Shackleton has a muscular problem, but a different injury to before and he’s not going to be available this weekend.”
Shackleton has managed to play 278 minutes so far this season, so the 20-year-old will be disappointed that injuries are delaying his progression.
However, the return of Douglas will be something the Leeds fans can cheer about, with the 30-year-old playing seven times this season for a total of 333 minutes – as per WhoScored. The Scotsman is yet to make any goal contribution or assists but has managed to keep an average rating of 6.48/10 in the Championship.
It’ll be interesting to see how these injuries affect Bielsa’s lineup on Saturday, perhaps Douglas can benefit from some missing players and get himself on the team sheet.
