Wolverhampton Wanderers have updated supporters on the extent of a recent injury to Adama Traore, who is valued at £13.5 million (as per Transfermarkt).

In a post to the club’s website yesterday, the Old Gold revealed that the Spaniard is struggling with a hamstring issue (as per Wolves).

The club’s head of medical, Phil Hayward, explained that despite completing the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa (per BBC), the 23-year-old had sustained a problem in his right hamstring (via Wolves).

Missing international duty

Despite a well-publicised Mali or Spain international call up saga (per The Sun), the right-winger had opted to play for Spain during this international break.

However, since sustaining the injury, Traore had to pull out of the Spain squad and miss the chance to make his senior international debut (via BBC).

Although unfortunate for his international career, the injury will have come at the best possible time for Nuno Espirito Santo as the attacker will have two weeks to recover without a match to miss at club level.

TiF Tactics – Who will replace Traore should he miss game time?

When any professional footballer, who starts matches, find themselves in the injury room – the first question to be asked is, who will replace them in the team?

For the Old Gold, the 23-year-old has been a star in recent weeks, picking up a 9/10 in the outing against the Villans (as per Birmingham Mail).

Should Traore have an extended spell on the sidelines, it is likely that Espirito Santo will revert to a 3-5-2 to swerve the problem, or simply replace the Spaniard with Pedro Neto.

The Portuguese winger has found minutes hard to come by so far this term, with only one Premier League start to his name this term in the 2-0 victory over Watford (via BBC).

In terms of average ratings, Traore outweighs Neto by far, with an average of 7.23/10 this term, where the Portuguese winger has a 6.18/10 average (per Whoscored), so the Old Gold will surely be hoping Traore’s injury is a short-lived one.
