It has been an exciting week for Spurs fans after the appointment of Jose Mourinho early on Wednesday and now fans are losing their minds after it was revealed that the Portuguese manager wants to make Gareth Bale his first signing at his new club.

Following Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking on Tuesday night, Daniel Levy worked quickly to bring in the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, with the 56-year-old confirmed as the new boss the following morning.

According to AS (via Metro), the new boss wants to make former Spurs winger Bale his first signing in the upcoming transfer window.

The 30-year-old left Spurs for Real Madrid for £85 million in 2013 in what was at the time a world-record deal after hitting 56 goals for the North London club in 203 appearances. Despite an impressive record at Madrid, with the Welshman scoring 104 goals for Los Blancos, Bale has struggled for game-time under Zinedine Zidane; starting just seven games so far this season.

Bale may also find himself in hot water with Madrid after he displayed a banner saying: Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order, after Wales secured qualification to Euro 2020 in the recent international break.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news that Mourinho is interested in bringing Bale back to the North London club can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly keen on seeing Bale return to Spurs under Mourinho and will be hoping that he can arrange a deal for the 30-year-old in January.

What do we think?

Bale is on a huge wage at Madrid and the Welshman would no doubt have to take a big wage cut if he was to make the move back to Spurs. Valued at £54 million, it would be a big transfer for Mourinho but would certainly help to endear him with a lot of Spurs fans.

The Welshman has averaged a 7.45 rating in his limited appearances so far this season and would no doubt score goals in the Premier League, as he has proved before,  should he make the move back to North London in January.
