Liverpool have been handed a further boost in their aim of winning the Premier League title, as it was announced that Jurgen Klopp has added sports psychologist Lee Richardson to his team.
It was revealed by Klopp in an interview with Athletic journalist James Pearce, who provided the news on his Twitter account, that Richardson had joined the staff at Anfield, with the German manager saying:
“It’s just for us the next step. It’s difficult to find the right people with how I see it in that part of the business. Now we feel pretty good with him on board and that’s cool”.
Richardson is a former professional footballer who spent time at Blackburn and Watford and also managed Chesterfield briefly between 2007 and 2009.
Richardson appears to be another cog in the well-oiled machine the former Borussia Dortmund manager is helping to create for the Reds. Klopp’s side are currently top of the Premier League and unbeaten domestically, and this appointment looks to be another step in the right direction for the Reds.
Reaction from Reds fans to Richardson’s appointment and the interview with Klopp can be seen in the tweets below.
This is our best chance at winning the league. All the players need to be focused and in the right mental state. This is a brilliant move and will only help the team further.

Mr Pearce, that’s one heck of an article. I’ve commented on the athletic too. Jurgen makes it easy I know but I bet that was an enjoyable morning. Once he’s talking like a waterfall he’s hard to stop…
