Spurs fans were treated to the news this week that Jose Mourinho had sat down with Christian Eriksen over his future at the club and talks seemingly went well.
According to the Independent (via Ricky Sacks), Mourinho was keen to discuss the 27-year-old’s long-term future at Spurs, following a summer in which the Danish international established his desire to leave the club.
The creative midfielder joined from Ajax in 2013 and has been a regular in the Spurs side over the last six years; making 293 appearances and scoring 68 goals.
Eriksen was usually one of the first names on the Spurs teamsheet, but his form seriously deteriorated following a summer transfer window in which a move away never materialised for the 27-year-old. However he remained a regular under Pochettino despite averaging a disappointing 6.51 rating up until this point in the top-flight.
Although, Mourinho has now stated that he believes Eriksen is “committed, loves the club and is one of us”.
Reaction from Spurs fans to the latest on Eriksen can be seen in the tweets below.
He’s a snake.

None of it matters of he continues to play like he has been. Lo Celso deserves to be given a chance. #COYS

He’d better start playing like it then.

Really want him to go, he’s shown his true colours, #EriksenOUT

If Alli plays at the level expected tonight then he should keep his place. Eriksen has been woeful and Lo Celso should be the back up

If he wants to go then he should not be near the 1st team.

These Spurs fans clearly feel that Eriksen has shown his true colours at Spurs and want to see him gone, preferably in January so Mourinho can gain some funds to spend on new players.
What do we think?
It would be a surprise to see Eriksen suddenly commit himself to a club when he appears to have made himself a villain amongst some of the Spurs fanbase. His deal is still set to expire at the end of the season and he may well walk away from the club on a free then. However, if Mourinho can get his performances to improve, then perhaps there will be some interest for the £90 million-rated man in January.
