Some Liverpool fans are loving Paul Joyce’s tweet which carries an update about Liverpool’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign and what is left of their Carabao Cup campaign this season.

The Times journalist Joyce wrote that the Reds’ Under-23s boss Neil Critchley will take charge of the club’s League Cup quarter-final clash against Aston Villa and will be left behind by the club when the first-team leaves for Qatar.

The Reds have their cup quarter-final against Villa on the 17th of December, while the Club World semi-final game takes place in the other side of the world in Qatar the next day. The fact that the Under-23s will play against Villa and the senior team will feature in Qatar has left many fans happy.

The Reds progressed into the quarter-final of the League Cup after a thrilling win over Arsenal in the previous round. They found themselves 5-4 down in stoppage time, but a late Divock Origi strike took the clash into penalties. And Klopp’s men booked their place into the next round with a 5-4 triumph at Anfield.

The games are set to come thick and fast for Liverpool next month. The first game of Everton will be the Merseyside Derby at Anfield, followed by a trip to Bournemouth three days later. Then comes an away game in Austria against RB Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League.

This is followed by a home game against Watford and then the League Cup game against Villa and the Club World Cup clash in Qatar.

The away game at West Ham has been postponed but the Reds will have three games in the space of seven days around Christmas and New Year. Some fans are annoyed that Klopp’s assistant Pep Lijnders isn’t getting the chance to manage the game against Villa.

What do we think?

So far this season, Liverpool have 20 players in the Premier League so far this season. Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson have played every single minute of the season so far.

Xherdan Shaqiri has played just 11 minutes, Adam Lallana has played 113 minutes and Naby Keita has played 14 minutes only too. It shows that they would need to use all three players more often to make sure that the club does not suffer from exhaustion when the games come thick and fast in December. Not doing that can prove to be disastrous in the long run.
