Liverpool fans have been singing the praise of Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn on Twitter, after the Scottish international put in another solid display in the Premier League.
McGinn signed for Villa from Hibernian in August 2018 and helped Dean Smith’s side to promotion from the Championship, averaging a 7.28 in an impressive debut season in English football. The 25-year-old has continued his electric form from last season into this year’s Premier League campaign, having already scored seven goals from midfield for club and country.
Despite being on the losing side against Liverpool, McGinn recorded an assist and received an 8.0 rating for his performance, which seriously impressed a lot of Reds fans.
Interestingly, the energetic midfielder is seen by some fans as an ideal long-term replacement for James Milner, whose contract is set to run out next summer.
Some of the best reactions from Liverpool fans to McGinn’s performance on Saturday can be seen in the tweets below.

These tweets clearly show that Reds fans rate McGinn as a player and are hoping to see Jurgen Klopp make a move for the former Hibs man in the near future.
What do we think?
McGinn has had a super start to the season and established himself as a very good Premier League player for Villa. His energetic style of play would certainly fit Liverpool’s ‘gegenpress’ style and a move to Anfield doesn’t seem unrealistic, especially when you consider the influence Scotland captain Andrew Robertson could have on McGinn’s future. The midfielder has played every minute for Villa so far this season in the league, so if Liverpool were interested, you would imagine Dean Smith would demand a very high price indeed.
