Fans of Everton have shown their delight following a ‘positive update’ on Andre Gomes’ ankle injury.
The Portuguese 26-year-old underwent surgery on Monday on his fractured and dislocated ankle following a clash with Son Heung-min in Sunday’s 1-1 draw.
With an update from the club explaining that Gomes‘ surgery went ‘extremely well’ (as per Everton), supporters were delighted for their midfield maestro.
Great news and here’s to a speedy recovery. I’m sure there are lots who might want to give him a hug if that helps?!

The 26-year-old has been at Goodison Park since the summer of last year, spending his first season on loan at the club before joining for a fee of £22.5 million in July (as per Transfermarkt).
During that time the midfielder has featured 38 times for the Toffees, scoring once and assisting twice over those games (via Transfermarkt).
With surgery having gone well, meaning supporters will see Gomes back in action in as few months as possible, the Everton faithful were delighted for the Portuguese international.

What do we think?
Despite the Portuguese 26-year-old being sidelined for a considerable number of months (as per The Sun), it is still fantastic news that surgery was a success.
The midfielder has been ever-present for the Toffees this term with eight Premier League appearances (via Whoscored), and will certainly be a big miss for the coming months.
