Everton supporters are baffled by Ronald Koeman’s supposed move to manage Barcelona.
Speaking to Marca ahead of the Netherlands’ upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, the Oranje gaffer was quoted as saying a move to Barcelona: “is a possibility, but only after Euro 2020” (via FourFourTwo).
With the Dutch news outlet, De Telegraaf, also reporting a likelihood in the move, the Toffees faithful were puzzled with the possible switch of their former boss to one of Europe’s top jobs.

The 56-year-old Dutchman had a tepid final season during his stay at Goodison Park, however, overall mustered 19 wins in 47 games with the Toffees (per Transfermarkt).
Koeman was given the chop by the Everton hierarchy early in the 2017/18 season after the club dipped into the relegation zone following a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal (per BBC).
Fans of the Merseyside club have not forgotten the woes of the club in the Dutchman’s second season in charge, and tipped one team for success should Barcelona appoint the 56-year-old.

What do we think?
While the season of Koeman’s Everton sacking may have looked bleak on the face of it, the Dutchman had the club’s best points per game tally in the league of any of the Toffees’ managers since 1990 at the time of his departure, with 1.47 PPG (via BBC).
Coupled with the fact that the 56-year-old has reformed the Netherlands’ senior side to being a key figure on the international stage (as per Squawka), the move may make more sense than it appears to Everton supporters.
