Fans were less than happy with Callum Hudson-Odoi after the Blues’ 2-1 cup defeat to Manchester United.
The English winger played the full 90 minutes in the defeat for Frank Lampard’s side on Wednesday night which saw Chelsea crash out of the Carabao Cup.
With supporters disgruntled over their exit from the competition, some of the blame was tagged to Hudson-Odoi over failing to impress at Stamford Bridge.

Get Cho off

Why was Pulisic taken off instead of Callum? Yes it hasn’t been his best game, but he’s been far better than CHO…

People have been hyping up CHO all year. But honestly. I’ve yet to see what is so special about him. His play is basic and his skills need some work. Speed alone is NOT the reason to play this guy.

The 18-year-old broke through into the Chelsea senior set-up during the 2017/18 season where he made four appearances for the Blues that term across the Premier League and FA Cup (per Transfermarkt).
Since then Hudson-Odoi has gone on to take his tally of Premier League outings to 16, registering four goals and no assists during that period (via Transfermarkt).
With the youngster tipped to be a world-class talent for the Blues (as per The Independent), supporters felt as though the 18-year-old was not realising his potential.
Indeed, one fan even brought the youngster’s pay into question after assessing his performance. He may have exaggerated slightly with his figure of £180,000 as the Englishman is reportedly (as per BBC Sport) on £120,000 per week, but it’s easy to understand the kind of point he is trying to make.
CHO has been so poor for us , he never plays his heart out unlike the other kids. This happens when a kid earns 180k weekly.suddenly pride will set in and the desire to improve will dwindle.

@Calteck10 is overrated. Gets in the @England team because he wears a @ChelseaFC shirt and @FCBayernEN came sniffing around. CHO has the ability to become good and played his cards well holding CFC to ransom. I’d have binned him off like Solanke. Cant beat good defenders either.

CHO is overrated tbh

What do we think?
Hudson-Odoi certainly has bags of potential (The Independent), but his progression seems to be stalling at Stamford Bridge.
With supporters running out of patience for their 18-year-old starlet, the English winger will have to start delivering for Lampard’s side in the near future (via Goal).
