One player that Liverpool have been linked with in recent days is causing a bit of confusion among some supporters.

That player is Ferran Torres, no, not that Torres. According to Sport Bild (via Sport Witness), Liverpool could be set to rival Borussia Dortmund for the Valencia playmaker, who has been making waves in Spain with some impressive displays.

The 19-year-old, who has played 10 times in La Liga this season, is reportedly being lined up by Liverpool as cover for the club’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

However, the potential signing’s surname could cause one or two issues for fans early on, as some supporters’ reactions highlighted when the news was broken on Twitter:

Indeed, Fernando Torres was brought up by a number of fans which is most likely down to both players sharing the same surname. The Spaniard scored 81 goals and provided 20 assists in just 142 appearances during his time at Anfield, so Ferran will have a lot to live up to if he wants to follow in the footsteps of his namesake, should a move come about.

Other fans gave their approval for Klopp to sign the promising forward:

What we think

Any attacker moving to the club at the moment does so knowing that they are going to be playing second fiddle to Liverpool’s current front three. Therefore, one way around this is to buy a player who is young enough to accept playing a bit-part role in the short term, which is where the 19-year-old could come into play.

Indeed, having the same surname as Fernando Torres may not be a good thing for the youngster should he make the move to Anfield, as Liverpool fans may have rather high expectations, which could add pressure.
