Charlton Athletic fans have been debating amongst themselves whether or not former striker Darren Bent should be considered a club legend. The question was passionately debated by supporters of the club on social media platform Twitter and it appears the dispute has been settled.
Yes, he was the best striker we had in the best team we’ve ever had. One of the first names in my all time Charlton XI

He’s a club legend for me. When you pick a recent history 11 he’s 100% in my side, I get he didn’t play for a significant period but when you consider the impact he made and the fact he is in our top 3 Prem scorers that alone will mean he is held in great regard ??

In an all time 11 I’d put him up top with Mendonca so yes, I’d say defo a legend.

For me yes

Without a doubt. 36 goals in 77 games. What other Charlton strikers have done that at the top level? Hell of a lot of goals especially when you consider how bad we were that season we went down with Dowie/Reed/Pardew in charge.

Most certainly a legend

What do we think?
Bent scored 36 goals in 77 appearances for the Addicks and when you look back at the club’s recent history he’s certainly one of the most prominent figures. His goalscoring record, particularly in the red and white of Charlton is not something to be sniffed at. That represents a ratio of almost one goal in every two games.
He went on to earn 12 caps for England and according to these fans, if they were to pick their all-time best Charlton eleven, the majority of them would include Bent up-front. Almost certainly a club legend from our perspective and despite only having spent two seasons at The Valley, his goals will live long in the memories of Charlton supporters everywhere.
