Celtic fans are split on Twitter over whether an injury to striker Odsonne Edouard would be catastrophic to their team’s fortunes.
The Frenchman is the Bhoys only fit striker, with recent injuries to Vakoun Bayo and Leigh Griffiths causing a selection headache for manager Neil Lennon.
Whilst the discussion on Tuesday’s Superscoreboard on Clyde 1 was purely a hypothetical scenario, it sent some Celtic fans into panic mode and others into complacency.
Actually I agree, he’d be a huge miss, yes we have goals from many others but don’t ignore the fact that many goals are scored because Eddy has drawn his markers out of position creating space for those others

Celtics wingers and midfielders are scoring for fun but alright

Yes and it’s embarrassing we only have one functioning striker!!!

Nah we have goals all over our team

Celtic have goals all over team, no denying he’d be a massive loss but not fatal, think other teams would feel pinch much more if strikers were missing

Who scored against Lazio?….. who was the 3 other players that scored at the weekend?. Yes I do agree we’re short on strikers, but we have goal scorers all over the park

What do we think?
The 21-year-old has been crucial for the Hoops since joining them, having bagged himself 44 goals in 101 appearances, with 11 in 20 matches so far this season.
Whilst discussing hypotheticals can usually sound like a slow news day, it’s worth highlighting that an injury to Edouard could put Celtic in all kinds of trouble.
Yes, they have midfielders and wingers scoring for fun at the moment, but the Frenchman is vital to the team’s shape and his goals have been equally important this season. Fans laughing this suggestion off could find that it comes back to haunt them in the coming weeks.
