Spurs fans have been less than impressed with their side’s start to the Premier League season, with many feeling that manager Mauricio Pochettino should turn to the club’s young players to try and solve the situation.

One man in particular who has been supported by Spurs fans on Twitter recently is 19-year-old midfielder, Oliver Skipp. The youngster has played less than 90 minutes of senior football so far this season, featuring twice off the bench in the Premier League and starting in Spurs’ Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester in September.

Following Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last Sunday, some Spurs fans feel the time is right for Skipp to start, ahead of another trip to Merseyside this upcoming weekend, when Spurs meet Everton.

It seems as if several fans have already written off a top-four finish this season, with the club currently sat 11th, so many feel the season should be used to try and bring some of the club’s promising youth players into the first-team setup. Skipp made his full first-team debut in a 1-0 win over Burnley last year, but has featured very little since then.

When seeing Skipp had made the visit to his old school on Twitter, lots of fans were very vocal in wanting the midfielder to start against Everton on Sunday.

These tweets show that the majority of Spurs fans have faith in the youngster, and want to see him get more game time in the Premier League.

What do we think?

If Spurs want to get out of this mess they’re in, then they need to rely on their experienced players. It would be unfair of Pochettino to throw someone of Skipp’s experience into the starting eleven at Everton and rely on him to help turn their form around. And, it would be a surprise to see Skipp start ahead of the likes of Winks or Ndombele, and the 19-year-old may have to wait a little longer to make his first Premier League start of the season.
