Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has had his say on the Granit Xhaka situation. Petit was part of Arsene Wenger’s double-winning side in the 1997/98 season and played 140 times in the Premier League having had spells at both Arsenal and Chelsea.
The former France international has made a bit of a name for himself in recent months openly criticising a number of the clubs current playing staff. Shkodran Mustafi recently hit back at Petit and it appears Xhaka is the latest to face criticism from the former midfielder. Here’s what some of the clubs supporters had to say in light of Petit’s recent comments.
Every single legend is against Xhaka yet some of the fans still support him #NotMyCaptain

EFL player at best.
Emery not cut out for such a prestigious club.— Julian.j.White (@JulianWhite68) October 24, 2019
Whilst others appear to be fed up of Petit’s constant criticism of the current squad.
Petit does lot of talking for someone who was a makeweight in the Overmars Barcelona deal

What do we think?
Pretty much everybody who is anybody has had their say on Granit Xhaka’s actions and understandably so. The incident in many ways has masked the fact that the Gunners should have won the game and were only denied by a baffling VAR decision.
Petit’s experiences of life at Arsenal came during the peak of Arsene Wenger’s glory years and the reality is, whilst former players would like to think the club is still the same one it was almost 20 years ago, it is in actual fact a very different place these days. The scrutiny on these players and their actions is more intense than it has ever been due to the social media landscape and so you could argue the pressures and challenges are very different.
